Cavalry Bugle Calls
In the Name Of Our Lord And Savior, Jesus Christ: Why do the Atlanta Braves play “CHARGE!” during home games?
I was watching the Atlanta Braves on television, and I was shocked (SHOCKED, I SAY!) to here the organist play that famous bugle call CHARGE! to lead the crowd in cheering for the BRAVES? Now, this struck me as rather Ironic as Our fearless Mounted soldiers, the United States Cavalry, used this very sound to urge the horse-backed troops to battle, against Indian BRAVES!!! Is it appropriate for a team named in honor of the proud Native Americans warriors of the past to use such a symbol their own destruction? If you are an American League fan, simply insert the words CLEAVLAND INDIANS for ATLANTA BRAVES and this question applies to you, too!!
Why would Y!A want to put this question in the BASEBALL catagory?
at least be honest about things. the team is not named braves or indians to honor native people. its done because they can. native people have been saying for decades that we are not honored by these mascots and now you see why. this is the inevitable outcome where native people end up being mocked and stereotyped. if it was an honor as people love to repeat then there would be a team called the cincinatti n3gros and the peoria p3ckerwoods.
