Cavalry Stetsons
US Army Cavalry Stetson and Spurs?
I am interested to know how Army 19 series (as well as Armor/Cavalry Officers) feel about other MOS’s being “awarded” spurs and stetsons simply for being attached to Cavalry. In many cases for as little as being deployed with a division that has cavalry in its title (i.e. 1st Cav Div). And if that wasn’t enough, how about wearing a cavalry stetson with a chord that isn’t yellow (i.e. FA dudes wearing them with red chords on them)
If every POG who deployed with, oh, say 4th ID, came home and slapped a blue chord and CIB on their class A’s, someone would shit a brick.
Yes, I’m venting a bit, but I am genuinely interested in everyone’s comments. Especially any POGs that would like to share the story of how they “earned” their Stetson and spurs.

I think this demonstrates the problem with creating a system in which uniformity is anything but. If all soldiers wore the same uniform, small things, like a patch or badge, would be significant. Instead, there are so many variations that it all loses its meaning.
