The Union has the war in the first place burning Springfield Armory Model 1861 .58 caliber Minie ball drawn muzzleloading muskets. These were drawn from imported British Enfield rifles fires a similar shot added. There was no enough new guns and some government units to handle various used outdated guns until they got new stuff on display. Some delivered their various militias personal and guns. The Confederates tried to unify the sound of the Union guns, but again, almost anything that might "pop" go was performed. By the end of the war, the Union troops with 7-shot Spencer cartridge rifles, 14-shot Henry lever guns & Burnside and other cartridge single shot breech loading armed.
