Question about The Civil War by Ken Burns?
I’m looking to purchase a copy of The Civil War by Ken burns on eBay. I’m noticing that some of the sets are composed of 9 videos / DVDs, some have 5 and others have 3. These are not “parts” of a set, they are supposedly “complete” sets. I’m wondering why some have 9 video’s / DVDs, some 5 and others 3. Anybody know what the different sets are? Are the smaller sets “condensed versions” or are they completely different? If they are different, have you viewed them and can you rate them as to whether they are all worth purchasing or are they repetitious?
The set I have on DVD was bought retail in the USA some years ago. There are 5 DVDs covering all nine episodes. If you’re comparing video and DVD remember that you can get only one episode per video cassette but there are two on most of the DVDs (the first has only one). I’ve never seen a 3 DVD set, but you should check that you’re getting all nine episodes if you go for a 3 DVD set.
If you’re really interested in the Civil War they’re invaluable. They’re not repetitive at all but they are hugely informative and very nearly addictive! I’ve watched them many times and learn something new almost each time I watch them. They’re highly recommended!!
