SOUTH CAROLINA BUTTON - This
button has a Extra Quality backmark, stand up shank loop, slightly
bent, with the thread still remaining. This a really clean example,
I have seen a lot of Confederate buttons, and this one is outstanding.
It has super detail, and a nice chocolate patina, super gilt
remaining! This button measures 18 mm.

"LOCAL" BUTTON - This
South Carolina Confederate was "local" made in Charleston on the
south-side of Market Street, just west of Meeting St. It was made
during the Civil War. The backmark reads "Schur & Bland -
Charleston S.C.", R.M.D.C. This button measures 23 mm in
diameter and it's listed in Albert's Button Book as SC 19. This
example is a low convex and I believe it was recovered in the Richmond,
Virginia vicinity.

was worn by Virginia staff officers with a clear motto, "Sic Semper
Tyrannis" at the bottom of the front, which translates, "Thus
Unto Tyrants". This button is clear and solid with minimal push

face, no pushes. It's Albert's Reference VA-22, it has the five

bent over; I'm not going to scrape that area off to find out but this is a
very nice button from a desirable location.

super button. It is made of cast white metal, which is very rare for
the Confederate Infantry button. It has super detail and a brass

are very hard to find, you'll pass over a whole lot of "I"
buttons before you run across a white cast metal one. If you don't
have one of these in your collection, I don't think you could find a

- CONFEDERATE STAFF OFFICERS BUTTON CS 25a - This is
an Army officer, convex, two piece, Confederate Staff button. The
front has the Confederate eagle on a lined field with thirteen stars
surrounding it. The backmark is blank with a depressed channel,
partial shank loop remains. No pushes or dents & this button has
an attractive, chocolate patina. Albert's reference is CS-25a.
