- CONFEDERATE FRAME BUCKLE GUTTER-BACK STYLE - This is a real nice,
original, gutter-back style, Confederate, sand-cast, frame buckle.
This buckle is the thin, smaller style, thought to be associated with
cavalry. It measures 57.7 x 65 mm. This particular size is
unlisted in Mullinux, which has all the common variations of sizes.
This particular buckle has a very nice, brown patina to the cast brass.
It was dug in Bovina, Mississippi on Clear Creek, twenty miles east of
Vicksburg. This plate an excellent, displayable example. You
probably wouldn't be able to tell it but it has a crack in one of the
corners. The crack is all the way through. It's hard to notice
but there have been no repairs. But still, the buckle isn't loose,
it has a tight crack, it's very displayable & very sound.
