Do you think it was just the South that used the blacks? As were many whites who do not own slaves. The reason Abraham Lincoln used slavery as a reason for war, the abolitionists rally behind him. Look They are all Civil War timeline, and you'll see that they took from the slavery of the reasons for war. Do not get me wrong, I do not think slavery was a good thing. But many people think that the North was the "savior". When in fact, they were simply shared use slavery as well. They did not need slaves, so that they "emancipate" slightly they could – a proclamation only applied to slaves in the south. The North had the Irish – and other ethnic groups – immigrants in mills at extremely low wages. Compare that to sharecropping. Y'all are voicing what I wanted to say is: slavery is often – and wrongly – to see as the reason for the Civil War "The reason for secession was slavery." But not the main reason.

My family actually fought for the Confedercy … so I do not try to cut to the south. If you ever again and read some of the letters from soldiers in the American Civil War in the North, they were not fighting to slavery to end. They fought because they saw the South as a traitor. Remember the first shots were in the Confederate war shooting at U.S. troops shot. They shot their own people.
